Fun weekend introducing one of my best friends in Fun weekend introducing one of my best friends in Amsterdam to the last two stages of the Pieterpad in Limburg.
Last fall I drove most of the Blue Ridge Parkway i Last fall I drove most of the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina and Virginia. It was easy to see why it's been branded as "America's Favorite Drive". I had planned on completing the final stretch this fall when the leaves were back at their peak, but life had different plans in store. So I figured before I get on a plane back to Europe this evening, I'd share some of my favorite photos from the parts I did complete as I hadn’t posted them previously. I suppose it’s kind of fitting that I didn't drive the whole thing as planned, as getting more comfortable with not finishing things I set out to do has probably been one of the biggest lessons I've learned since leaving Amsterdam nearly two years ago. For long-term followers, you know I’ve always had a mild obsession with completing quixotic quests of my own making. But over the past couple of years, I've simply had to get more comfortable with leaving things unfinished or accepting that some plans will have to wait for another time, if ever. As the past month has made more apparent than ever, life can change in an instant. And what you'll look back on isn't how many things you checked off your bucket list, but rather, the people you did them with. So with that in mind, I’ll be forever thankful for getting to spend more time with my brother and his family and making some new lifelong friends along the way. Until next time North Carolina, thanks for making me feel at home again 🍂
